Describe a man who has positively impacted your life.
My friend, Dale, is a person who has impacted my life and I think of him often. I met him when I was in college. He was my neighbor. We used to take long walks to the liquor store and he would buy us ice cream that we would eat while we walked through the developing neighborhood. We watched houses go up with construction. We watched neighborhoods grow, and we dreamed of what we would do if we had lived there forever ago. We spoke about having chairs by windows and looking outside at the neighborhood and thinking about a life well lived at what it meant to live well.
I moved away and we still stayed in touch. Dale once mailed me a note which I now keep in a frame. The note has saying on it, which act as reminders of how to live well.
The sayings are as follows:
An attitude of gratitude brings you many opportunities;
Compassion has no limit kindness, no enemy;
it’s easy to think about love, to talk about love, to wish for love, but it’s not always easy to recognize love even when we have it in our hands;
you can know someone better in a moment of honesty than you can in a lifetime of lies;
a grain of sand is no greater or lesser because of its position on the beach. In the end, it’s just a grain of sand.
Dale signed his note,
Have a good day, with love, Dale.
I miss him, but I am sure he is comfortable in heaven.
